About
SAARchess is an effort by Saarthak to make you do what is right, not what is easy nor what is popular. The primary focus would be to help beginners and lower-rated people get better at chess. Progressing in chess isn’t that hard once you have mastered the basics and the themes of the game. Most lower-rated players are weak in certain parts of the game which is why I am here to teach you the nitty-gritty of the game of chess. SAARchess welcomes all ages and skill levels, from beginner to intermediate. It currently has an online option only in Toronto, Ontario. If you love chess, you’ve come to the right place.
About Saarthak
I began playing chess with my father at 10. Having excelled at math and music from a young age, I always enjoyed the complexities of chess, hence dipping my toe in the world of rated tournaments
Eventually, I joined the chess team for my elementary school chess team in the USA and continued through my high school and the secondary school chess club in Canada. I played a lot of tournaments across countries and won tournaments. Please check the ‘Playing Experience’ section for some of my main achievements so far in chess.
I recently achieved a peak rating of CFC 2154 (FIDE 1850+) and eventually achieved the National Candidate Master Title. I continue to study my chess to achieve my next Title.
When not playing chess, I like to go for walks around the city and spend time with my friends and family. I am a pianist who is thriving for RCM level 7 and I love reading fictional story books.
I have a passion for teaching and doing chess puzzles with my friends. My greatest joy is in inspiring confidence in my students and demystifying complicated concepts. I love to work with kids and watch them grow into confident, young chess players.

I have experience of helping people with tactics, calculation, strategy, different openings, endgames, psychology, etc. This experience proved to be useful for my work with new students, but still, I keep on following new trends and trying new things in teaching.
Best Skills:
I can play both attacking and positional chess. I know many different openings and typical positions, so I believe we can get along well no matter what your style of playing is.
Teaching Methodology:
In my classes, I will teach the openings very carefully and analyze them very meticulously for the improvement in planning the openings. We will go through classic games and after that, to learn the moves with high depth, we will analyze every move step-by-step and at the end. For the full effect, I will send the files for you to examine and analyze on your own.
For the middlegame, we will work on strategies in the class and calculation will be your homework.
I will also cover both Practical and Theoretical Endgames in class.
The steps mentioned can change based on your personality and abilities.
If you have certain aspects of chess you'd like to improve, we can work on them. Other than that, I can look at your games and define what would be the most important thing for your improvement. Homework is included.

Have you stumbled upon chess and found yourself irresistibly absorbed? Perhaps it was a spontaneous encounter with the game that you found out through friends at school, leaving you contemplating whether to embark on the journey of learning this timeless game. On the other hand, technology may have introduced you to chess online, where the clicking and moving of virtual pieces on your phone or computer screen was fascinating to you and became an inspiration to learn. The vast world of online chess not only allows you to play against opponents worldwide but also allows you to become a formidable player. This diary specifically aims to be your comprehensive resource for delving into the intricate world of chess openings. This guide is tailored to help both beginners and enthusiasts master the first phase of the chess board: openings. To truly grasp the essence of a chess game, one must appreciate its three phases: the opening, middlegame, and endgame. While these terms may appear straightforward, mastering each stage is the hallmark of a skilled chess player.
